Answers to some of the most common
questions about the University, admission
policies and facilities:
1. Why should I study at OGTech?
The Oman-German University OGTech is
affiliated to
RWTH Aachen, one of Europe’s oldest and
most prestigious universities and a member
of the elite
IDEA league (a strategic partnership of
research universities with Delft University
of Technology, Imperial College London, ETH
Zurich and the Paris Institute of
Technology).
OGTech offers a high standard of education,
a friendly environment that is conducive to
learning and an internationally recognised
degree. The future employability of our
students is our main concern and thanks to
strong ties between education and research,
we focus on career building elements through
a constant interaction with the industry.
2. What programmes of study are offered
at the University?
The Oman-German University offers study in
the Pre-University Programme leading to the
following four bachelor programmes:
•
BSc in Regional Management and Tourism
•
BSc in Urban Planning and Architectural
Design
•
BSc in Applied Information Technology
•
BSc in Applied Geosciences
3. Are part time programmes available for
study?
Part-time programmes will be made
available, if there is adequate number of
students opting for it.
4. Where is the University located?

5. Does the University accept non-Omani
students?
Yes, the University accepts both
Omani and non-Omani students.
6. What supporting documents should I
present with my application?
The main documents the University
requires are as follows:
• Completed
Application for Admission form;
• Copy of your General Certificate
Examination;
• Copy of your ID or Passport;
• Evidence of English proficiency (if
available);
• Four passport-size photographs;
• Appliocation fee of R.O. 50.

7. What will happen when I submit my
application?
As soon as we receive your application,
we will send you an acknowledgement of
receipt.
Thereafter, we will evaluate your
application in accordance with our entry
requirements. If your application satisfies
the University’s entry requirements, you
will be granted admission into your chosen
programme of study. A Letter of Offer will
be sent to you containing the following
information:
• Your application number (to be used as a
reference number in all correspondence with
the
University);
• The programme of study for which admission
is granted;
• If the offer is conditional, the
conditions subject to which admission is
granted;
• The duration of studies;
• Corresponding tuition fees and payment
details;
• The date and venue of your English
Placement Test;
• The starting date of classes;
• Information on how you can accept the
study place offer.
If you are awaiting the results of your GCE
or other relevant examinations, the
University might issue a Conditional Letter
of Offer, based on transcripts of records
and/or projected results.
The Letter of Offer will be sent to you by
email and a hard copy will be posted to your
mailing address. Please make sure to provide
us with your mailing address.
8. How do I accept the offer made by the
University?
It is in your interest to reply as soon
as possible to book you a place in your
chosen programme.
The
enrolment process includes the
submission of:
• The Enrolment Form;
• Other relevant documents (e.g. results
from English Language Placement Tests, GCE
results or other documents, letter of
sponsorship for scholarship students).
The enrolment process is completed with the
payment of the tuition fees to the
University. You will then acquire the status
of student of the University and the
following documents will be issued:
• A student ID card;
• A student email address;
• An “Enrolment Advice” confirming your
status as a student of the University and
listing the courses for which you are
registered.
9. Do I have to pay the University?
Yes, the Oman-German University of
Technology is a private institution of
higher education which means that students
are required to pay for their education.

10. What is the cost of tuition?
The cost of tuition varies depending on
your chosen programme of study. The cost of
tuition applicable at the Oman German
University of Technology is inclusive of
tuition fees, access to textbooks required
for each course, and access to a laptop
computer which will be provided to all
students enrolled in either the Foundation
Programme or an Undergraduate Programme.
Also it includes the cost of travel to and
accommodation in Germany if it is a
compulsory part of your programme of study.

Please note that the cost of tuition for the
Intensive English Programme is only
inclusive of the cost of textbooks and the
tuition fee.
11. How can I pay my fees?
The payment of your tuition fees within
the stipulated payment dates is a
pre-requisite for your enrolment. If you are
a recipient of scholarships, you may submit
a proof of the award of scholarship by the
University or a Third-Party.
You can pay by cheque, cash, telegraphic
transfer or electronic transfer. Please do
not send cash through postal mail.

If you chose to pay by telegraphic or
electronic transfer, you should bring the
proof of payment including your name, your
programme of study, and the application
number mentioned on your Letter of Offer.
12. Can I pay my tuition fees by
instalment?
Yes, you can pay in either 2 or 3
instalments. If you opt to pay by
instalment, you should submit the
corresponding form to request a Tuition
Instalment Plan to the
Admission and Enrolment Office.
13. Can I apply to the University
although my English level is not equivalent
to an IELTS score of 4.5 or a TOEFL score of
480?
Yes, you can apply. Your admission into
the University will be based on your results
in the General Education Certificate and the
minimum entry requirements for each
programme. Please click here.
As English is the language of instruction,
you will have your English language
proficiency tested and you may need to
enroll in the Intensive English Programme (IEP).
14. Can I transfer from another
institution to OGTech?
Yes, you can transfer from your
institution to OGTech if you satisfy our
entry requirements.
15. What supporting documents should I
present with my application to be considered
for advanced standing?
The main documents the University
requires are as follows:
• Completed application form for advanced
standing, including name of the courses for
which
you want to apply for advance
standing;
• Copy of your General Certificate
Examination;
• Copy of your ID or Passport;
• Evidence of English proficiency;
• Copies of your post secondary
school qualifications and other
certificates;
• Official transcripts from institutions
attended;
• Course description and course syllabus for
courses to be transferred.

16. Can I have my previous credit courses
transferred to OGTech?
Yes, it is possible to transfer your
previous credit courses to OGTech. Please
note that only courses pertinent to our
programmes of study might be transferable
and that the procedures for advanced
standing apply.
Government sponsored students who wish to
transfer to OGTech must explore the
possibility with their sponsor.
Please note that a petition of transfer
credit must be completed at the time of
submitting your application for admission.
You should attach to your petition course
descriptions and course syllabus and return
it to the Admission and Enrolment Office.
17. Will the university provide
accommodation and transportation facilities
to students?
The university will provide
transportation at an additional cost upon
request. The university can also assist
female students in finding accomodation.
18. Will the University help me out find
a job after graduation?
Yes, our staff will work with you to
determine what career field might be
appropriate for you. You will have the
opportunity to participate in general
workshops on resumes and cover letter, job
search strategies and interviews which will
be of a great use to land a job in your
aspired field. Also, students will have the
opportunity to take advantage of the
University’s potential close ties with
renowned corporations in different fields of
industry.
